Chelsea Iversen
Hello! My name is Chelsea Iversen. I am a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP). I grew up with a mother that embraced a holistic philosophy to our health which laid the foundation for how I try to live. It was this belief system that led me to seek care with midwives for my second pregnancy and birth in Denver, CO. After birthing my son with midwives, I felt the Lord nudging me to become a midwife myself. So, I returned to school and became a CNM in 2016 and a WHNP in 2019.
I began my journey as a midwife caring for women at Native Women’s Health Care and provided birth services in the hospital setting from 2016-2020. For the next 1.5 years I worked at Black Hills OB/GYN and was co-owner of Apple Tree Midwifery & Birth Center. Creating a birth center was an amazing journey with beautiful people and I learned so much.
Caring for women has brought me so much joy. I adore caring for women and believe that all women deserve dignity and respect no matter their situation. I strongly advocate for informed decision making so women can feel empowered and confident in their healthcare choices. Morning Star Midwifery & Women’s Health provides an alternative option to women and allows them to exercise informed consent. I am excited to offer homebirth as an option to women and am looking forward to serving many women and families in our area.
Aside from being a CNM and WHNP, I am a wife to my husband, Donald, and a mother of two boys, Gabriel and Liam. When I’m not caring for women or my family, my hobbies include camping, fishing, reading, crocheting, cross-stitching, hiking, running, and snowboarding.

Native to the beautiful Black Hills, I transitioned into birth work over a decade ago. It was after the home birth of our daughter that my love and passion for this path truly began. In 2009 I founded Vintage*DOULA. The goal was to meet the growing need for labor support in our community. Since that time, our Certified Doulas have been so honored to have supported well over 500 families as they journey into one of the most pivotal experiences in their lifetime. My extensive experience as a professional doula led me down the path to become a Certified Childbirth Educator as well as the opportunity to birth assist with a number of local home birth CNM’s. I am absolutely honored to now have the opportunity to birth assist with Chelsea as she serves families in the Black Hills. I know her clients will experience birth in awareness... feeling confident, informed and surrounded with so much care and respect as they get ready to meet their new babies.
Aside from birth work, I’m a big fan of laughter, good friends, great conversation, campfire and just spending quality time with my sweet family. I’m married to an incredible man with whom I share five gorgeous children (three of which were born right at home, one welcomed in the hospital setting and one brought to our family through adoption.) Amazing people, and I’m so grateful to be living this life with them.
